The UK Lotto online is a 6 from 49 game that was originally launched in November 1994 as 'The National Lottery', and was not know as the Lotto until the game was re-branded in 2002. The game itself is played twice a week – every Wednesday and Saturday – offering some of the best jackpots in the World, and draws are televised live from “Lottery HQ” on UK BBC television.
How to play the UK National Lottery Online
Playing the UK Lotto is easy. Start by selecting six numbers from 1 to 49 and purchase a ticket. You should state whether you are making your entry for the Wednesday or Saturday draw, and you will have the option of entering your numbers for several consecutive draws if you want to play them repeatedly. As a general rule, the jackpots offered for draws on Saturdays tend to be larger than those offered on Wednesdays, but rollovers can sometimes reverse this trend.
When the draw takes place, a total of seven balls are drawn automatically by machine. The first six balls drawn are the main numbers and the seventh ball is referred to as the Bonus Ball. To win the top prize (the jackpot) players must match all six main numbers. Should two or more people achieve this, the jackpot will be shared equally between them. If no player matches all six main numbers, the jackpot fund is “rolled over” and added to the jackpot fund for the following draw.
The UK Lotto has five prize levels in all. The requirements for winning a prize at each level, and the odds of doing so, are presented in the table below:

Winning UK Lotto tickets are valid for up to 180 days from the date of the draw taking place. If you have bought your ticket(s) online then you will be notified automatically should you win a prize. Online players also enjoy the advantage that they cannot possibly lose their ticket or their right to any prize it wins. Of course, if you have entered the same set(s) of numbers for several draws then your subsequent entries will still be valid for as many draws as you have paid for.
