Thunderball is a lotto game that is played every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday after the main UK Lotto draw. Most players who participate in the Thunderball draw also play the main UK Lotto game, but this is not compulsory and it is perfectly acceptable for the Thunderball game to be played separately. The jackpots may be less, but you will have a better chance of winning Thunderball.
Unlike most lottery games, if several people win the top prize then they will not usually have to share the jackpot. For example, if two people match five main numbers and the Thunderball, they would – in most circumstances – win £500,000 each. This, along with the fact that there are so many consolation prize levels, makes the Thunderball game very appealing.

Play Thunderball Lotto
To play Thunderball you must select five numbers from the range 1 to 39 and one additional number (known as the Thunderball number) from the range 1 to 14. If you don’t want to select your own numbers then you can take advantage of a Lucky Dip feature and have them selected at random on your behalf. Like other UK Lotto games, you can enter the same set(s) of numbers for several consecutive draws if you want to play them repeatedly.
When does the Thunderball Lotto Draw take place?
The Thunderball lotto game plays three times every week, on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings and tickets for the draw are just £1 each, that means every time you buy your UK Lotto or Euromillions Lottery tickets there’s a Thunderball draw to participate in on the same evening.
The top prize in the Thunderball lotto is worth £500,000, and to win that sum you need to match all five main numbers as well as the Thunderball itself. There are eight other prize levels in addition to the jackpot, and these are detailed below, along with the odds of winning in each case:
